General

What is Market Intelligence?

Market Intelligence is Wiser’s real-time insights platform that gives brands and retailers category-wide visibility into competitor pricing, promotions, product availability, and shopper feedback across retailers and marketplaces. It helps teams benchmark performance, identify gaps, and make faster, more confident decisions to protect margins and grow sales.

How is Market Intelligence different from Price Intelligence?

Choose Price Intelligence when you need a focused view of a defined product list, such as your SKUs or a competitor set. It shows precise pricing and promotion changes for those items at specific retailers. Choose Market Intelligence when you want a broad view of entire categories. It reveals more competitors, pricing trends, promotions, reviews, and assortment shifts across the market.

How to choose:

  • If your question starts with “How are my SKUs priced today?” pick Price Intelligence.
  • If your question starts with “What is happening in my category?” pick Market Intelligence.

What business questions and decisions does Market Intelligence support?

Market Intelligence helps answer the questions that shape pricing and category strategy:

  • Who are my competitors, and how are they pricing and promoting products?
  • Where are the assortment gaps that create risks or opportunities?
  • What do shopper ratings and reviews reveal about behavior and preferences?

With these insights, customers can optimize pricing without eroding margins, strengthen product content, adjust promotions in real time, and confidently act on changing market conditions.

Who uses Market Intelligence, and what types of companies benefit?

Market Intelligence is used by category managers, pricing teams, e-commerce leaders, and competitive intelligence specialists who need clear visibility into the market. Both brands and retailers benefit:

  • Brands use it to measure competitive pressure, ensure strong retail execution, and find growth opportunities.
  • Retailers use it to benchmark assortment, refine promotions, and respond quickly to shopper behavior.

How does Market Intelligence deliver ROI?

Brands typically see ROI from smarter pricing strategies, faster competitive response, stronger digital shelf performance, and reduced manual reporting.

Retailer ROI comes from sharper promotional planning, better assortment benchmarking, faster reaction to competitor moves, and improved shopper conversion.

Data Access & Integrations

What export formats are supported?

Reports from Market Intelligence can be exported in Excel or CSV formats. This makes it easy to share data across teams, build your own reports, or integrate insights into your business workflows.

Can Market Intelligence connect to my BI platforms?

Yes. Many customers export data from Market Intelligence and bring it into tools like Tableau or Power BI. This lets you combine competitive insights with your internal data for more powerful analysis.

Can I filter by retailer, marketplace, or geography?

Yes. Market Intelligence includes flexible filters so you can view results by site, retailer, category, brand, or region. This allows you to focus only on the most relevant slice of the market. The filters themselves are always available, but the specific retailers, categories, or geographies you see depend on the scope of your contract.

Can I save and share reports in Market Intelligence?

Yes. You can save your report configurations for reuse and share them with colleagues to ensure everyone is working from the same view. This saves time and improves consistency across teams.

Can I schedule reports or alerts?

Yes. Market Intelligence allows you to schedule recurring reports and set up alerts for key changes. This ensures stakeholders are notified of important shifts without needing to log in every day.

How many users can access Market Intelligence?

Market Intelligence supports multiple users with role-based permissions. This means different teams such as pricing, category management, and leadership can collaborate in the same platform while maintaining control over access.

How is Market Intelligence data collected?

Data is captured directly from retailer and marketplace websites, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. By pulling from live product detail pages, the platform reflects the real shopper experience and competitive conditions.

Reports & Features

How much historical data is available in Market Intelligence?

Historical depth depends on your setup and category, but most accounts provide at least 12 months of data, with some going back further. This gives you the ability to analyze promotional timing, price shifts, and availability patterns over time.

Which reports show promotions?

The Promotions Report shows which items are on discount, how deep the promotion goes, and when it took place. The History Report lets you see the exact timing of price and availability changes over time. For side-by-side competitive comparison, the Price Matrix highlights how different retailers are running promotions, making it easy to confirm compliance and spot trends.

How can I check product presence and coverage?

The Coverage and History reports show whether products are listed, how broad the assortment is, and whether stock is consistent over time. These reports help you confirm product visibility, identify listing gaps, and understand how coverage may affect pricing or promotional performance.

How do I monitor shopper sentiment?

The Reviews report surfaces product ratings, review counts, and customer feedback across retailers. This helps you see which products are performing well, where shopper concerns may be hurting conversion, and how sentiment changes over time. It is a direct view into the shopper experience at the point of decision.

How can I compare price position across the category?

Reports such as Base 100, Average Price, Banding, and Quartiles show how products are positioned within the competitive set. You can see relative price position, distribution across tiers, and overall price spread. These insights help you identify whether you are leading, lagging, or positioned correctly for your strategy.

Can I include my own products in Market Intelligence analysis?

Yes. You can add your SKUs and see them alongside the full category to benchmark price position, promotion depth, and listing presence by retailer and region. This helps you confirm whether your pricing and promotional strategy aligns with the market or needs adjustment. For a fast product-level check, open the SKU in WiseCard to view price history, promotion changes, and review signals in one place.

What is WiseCard, and how is it different from reporting?

WiseCard is a built-in feature of Market Intelligence that gives you an instant, SKU-level snapshot without the need to build a full report. Use reports for ongoing category-wide tracking, and use WiseCard for fast checks before retailer meetings, weekly reviews, or competitive benchmarking.

Can I move from category trends to specific SKUs, including competitor products?

Yes. Market Intelligence lets you zoom out to see category-wide trends and zoom in on individual SKUs with WiseCard. You can search your own or competitor products, view price and promotion history, and compare SKUs side-by-side to spot strengths, gaps, or opportunities.
