Euroconsumers and Test D’Achat Case Study
Euroconsumers, a consumer’s rights organization in Europe, is focused on promoting and defending consumer interests, solving their problems, and helping them exercise their fundamental rights—including freedom of choice, access to information, education and justice, and health and safety.
Euroconsumers wished to expand its services for all internet users by focusing on prices and affordability of various eCommerce websites across different countries. Specifically, Euroconsumers was in the market for a plug-in or browser extension that could overlay this information on select websites quickly and easily, all while people browsed from their preferred devices.
To achieve these goals, Euroconsumer turned to Wiser Solutions.
When approached about this challenge by Euroconsumers, Wiser was already collecting daily data of prices, delivery costs, and availability in the consumer electronics, wine, and DIY spaces for Euroconsumers across more than 500 eCommerce sites in Europe and South America.
To further help, Wiser developed browser extensions compatible with Chrome and Firefox for Euroconsumers’ desired consumer sites, all available for download from the Chrome and Firefox webstores.
Wiser also designed a web API, where browsers communicate in real time with the Wiser database by identifying products viewed by users. With this API, the users could receive all the useful information to find the best deal for the desired product: list of retailers, prices, availability, delivery costs, and more.

When you visit an eCommerce site whose product sheet is available in its database, the plug-in will consult the Wiser database in real time to check if there is not a cheaper offer on another website. If another site offers the same product at a cheaper rate for the consumer, the plug–in will activate and offer to go to the site of Euroconsumers (such as Test Achats) to show the cheaper offer.
If the user clicks on the Test Achats banner, he or she will be sent to the Euroconsumers website—for example, www.test-achats.be for Belgium—to see which sites offers the product at a better price.
This solution is available for several European countries: Belgium, Portugal, and Italy.
